Lean and Six Sigma Fusion.

Several Indian organizations are keen to deploy six sigma methodologies to gain significant competitive advantage in the rapidly shrinking global village. Much has been written about the critical success factors for deployment of a Six Sigma initiative e.g., alignment of the business goals, top management commitment, project selection, selection of Black Belt candidates, their training etc. However, our experience in leading a Six Sigma program in the Indian context has convinced us that to achieve substantial results from such a program, the focus must shift from creating an elitist set of specialist Black Belts with a formidable set of tools in their arsenal to implementing projects using the Lean Sigma methodology.

Lean Sigma integrates the two problem solving methodologies – Lean Thinking and Six Sigma leading to breakthrough improvement in quality and cycle time coupled with organizational transformation.

We are presently implementing a Six Sigma program in the Kaizen format where we focus on eliminating waste on the one hand and variability on the other, with the speed of the ‘Breakthrough Kaizen' approach.

‘Lean Sigma Kaizen' methodology is surely a recipe for rapid results. It can be successfully deployed in all types of applications including manufacturing, service industries, financial institutions, design and development, healthcare etc.
